Second Half Notebook

Here's my notes from the second half as I wrote them. Forgive the spelling and grammar mistakes. My editors editor's were polishing their resume's

Half Time KSU thoughts

Hello, we aren't dead yet but this team looks to fall short of 10 wins. It'll be a wild infuriating ride from here on out. Time for some thoughts

Those Sports Moments and Dad

Yesterday, Kyle Porter, proprietor of the wildly popular Pistols Firing wrote about his experiences watching Brandon Weeden and the real importance of sports. I've only met Kyle once, but I believe him to be passionate about providing a product we all like and a genuine dude. Today might have been his best work yet.

A Better Idea for Hoops Tickets

Yesterday the Tulsa World reported that Oklahoma State will be moving to a select ticket policy for Oklahoma State basketball…..maybe…..if things go like they want them to? Let's not even go that far ok? Better idea time.

A Few Thoughts On Today

I'm not sure how to start this BUT I wanted to get a few thoughts out on today's abomination.

I Have A Confession. I Keep A Score Card

I have a confession...I haven't been honest with you my friends. I'm a normal guy. I've got a decent job, a college degree and a fiancee who seems to like me. Today though, today I realized I have a hobby that should only be done in the privacy of my own home. I just can't handle the jokes and the stares so I need to tell you about it.

Putting Pete On Panties to Catch Texas

"When should a college athlete turn pro? Not until he has earned all he can in college as an amateur" --Will Rogers

Yesterday I went diving through a wealth of hidden information on Okstate.com. I was looking for the process on how to become a Okstate athletic marketing license holder when I stumbled on the list approved licensees from last year. Uhh no I said no t-shirts, I was curious about Koozies.  I thought you might find a brief brief summary of the 254 page list interesting. Because these are amateur athletes we support after all.

What Has and Will Be Proven

"It's probably better to have him inside the tent pissing out, than outside the tent pissing in."
           - Lyndon Johnson

I haven't written much in the last ten days or so. My computer broke and I've been busy helping fan the flames of group think on Twitter.  I wish it hadn't happened....

No Really, We're Playing UTSA

I hate wasting time or money and that happens all the time for no good reason, and then people save money by skimping on the important things.-Rick Baker

If Saturday's game against UTEP had a picture in the dictionary it would be Mike Gundy's perfectly styled nugget growth topped with a visor.

Texas Recruited Thurman Thomas As A DB

Guys if you like to Mack Brown recruited as a DB meme then listen to this ESPN radio interview with Thurman Thomas.

I Lied, Johnny Isn't Dez and That's Really Our Fault

Yesterday I said I missed the blog boat on Johnny Football. But I'm not writing for the crazy Ad clicks cash, so let's talk about what went down yesterday with Johnny, the NCAA and the reaction of Oklahoma State fans.

Idea Time: Catch An Opposing Fan Contest

This idea may go down in flames, but I'm ok with that. What I'd like here are pictures and the stories behind them that make college football the greatest sport on earth. You know, the rich pageantry stuff that college football writers talk about when they already used their kids to mail in last week's column. That is what I want, and I want you  help. Now for the details.

The Need For An Indoor in One Release

While working on the previous post I found a summer practice report that illustrates the need for the Smith Center as concisely as anything I've seen yet.

Where Have All the Cowboys Gone? 2005 Version.

I’m sitting here listening to terrible music, writing worse headlines and wondering where every member of Mike Gundy’s original staff ended up.
Let’s take a look then, I think you’ll find it interesting.

Berry Tramel Lives In Dixie

I'm out of quotes. It was a good bit while it lasted.

Anyone else find themselves more confused after reading this article by Berry?  If you're going to say people in Dixie are confused, shouldn't you have evidence that they are actually confused? Quotes? Sources maybe? A guy in business as long as Berry probably knows somebody? Instead we get, oh he's so crazy he won't tell us who starts!

What SEC defensive coordinator is basing anything off of what Gundy says?  If you take what Gundy says on the qb situation as truth, then you have to take everything else as equally true and then it all falls apart. Geoff Collins gets paid to run their defense, and he'll do it without listening to Gundy.

Side Note: At a certain point we really need to stop acting like JW can't throw at all. The folks out there fetishising arm strength would be leading the Garrett Gilbert for starter campaign after spring football. More to it than throwing hard, and that's true in any offense.

Drinkin Dark Whiskey Is Too Obvious A Title

Whenever someone asks me if I want water with my Scotch, I say I'm thirsty, not dirty.
Joe E. Lewis

Those of you who have fought through my Twitter account for more than a month know I'm engaged. I'd talk about her more, but she's a bit of a rock star in her profession and I would not want some of the things I drunkenly slur through a keyboard to find their way to her colleagues.

I say that to share this, my cousin got me a bottle of Scotch as an engagement gift. Now, I like other brown booze, I try to be a bourbon fan in a way that the sports media high school wouldn't find worthy of ridicule. Odds are I haven't had the best stuff ever and don't have much interest in trying to shoehorn my preferences above yours in the give a shit scale.  Forgive  me though, because this bottle of Scotch fascinates  me. I have  so many questions and if you can help please comment.

1.I've dabbled In Scotch but Who hand writes the bottle numbers? Is it the low man or a promotion?
2. How many other cask types are there?
3. 619 bottles is an odd number. Is there any way to standardize this?
4. How do I drink something like this and what if any food do I pair it with?

5. You like Scotch? Tell me about it

A Place For More

There ought to be a room in every house to swear in. It's dangerous to have to repress an emotion like that.
